CWA Local 1103 stands strong with our Sisters & Brothers of the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) at a recent rally on the WMC grounds. They have been fighting for a contract for 5 years at Westchester Medical Center (WMC). No wage increases to keep up with the exhausting schedules, shorthanded staffing, and general disrespect from the Westchester Medical Center CEO Mike Israel who earned $1.9 million in 2014. While there is no money for those that actually care for the patients that walk or are carried through the WMC doors there is pleanty for others. According to a LoHud article (WMC paid out $4.6 million in bonus dollars to just 18 employees at the Hospital and huge retention bonus to its CEO. From the NYS Comptroller report:
Retention bonuses of $1,343,652 paid to the CEO and CFO as part of their employment agreements. Auditors questioned WMC’s authority to make the payments because they weren’t tied to specific performance criteria as required. WMC officials disagreed with the auditors and said the payments were made based on its total compensation program and other policies.
