CWA Local 1103, (the “Union”) filed a petition for investigation and certification of representation for The Town of Somers Librarians. Workers across the nation are joining unions. The Librarians chose CWA Local 1103 because they know we are the Local that fights and wins. Organizing new workers is a Local 1103 priority.
Verizon's use of the new vendor SAMBA to access employee driving records, please note that the reference to "consumer reports" is present because that is the term the Federal Credit Reporting Act uses to define certain information (including driving records) collected by consumer reporting agencies such as SAMBA.
The new contracts will be distributed at the next Membership Meeting on April 24th from 3-
6pm in the Cafeteria Conference Room.
Common Interest Forum
At the most recent Common Interest Forum, there were productive conversations with
management on staffing, wages, call pay, and holidays. We would like to thank those who
attended and spoke passionately about their concerns.
CWA’s Local 1103 Executive Board conducted an informational meeting and welcomed new members into the ranks of the union. President Sheil led the meeting and explained the composition of CWA and CWA Local 1103. He was also clear that EVERY new union job at Verizon is a result of the 2016 strike and 2022 MOU which requires VZ to hire.

What we’re fighting for: reducing the waiting period for striking workers to receive unemployment to one week.
What we’re fighting for: preventing healthcare employers from mandating that direct patient care workers work beyond their regularly scheduled hours.

For Verizon Members: The Regional Joint Work/Family Committee (Regional Committee) is a bargained-for committee established in 1990. The Regional Committee comprises of six Local Union Officers representing CWA New York / New England, Verizon, and IBEW 2213 and six Senior Level Managers.
