CWA 1103 has filed a NLRB charge against Nyack Hospital for having failed and refusing to execute a CBA which was reached on or around December 7, 2012, and which was ratified by the bargaining unit on December 17, 2012, and which has effectively been implemented by the employer, in violation of its bargaining obligations under the act.
On Monday April 29 ballots for the CWA Local 1103 Secretary/Treasurer election were mailed to all Local 1103 Members in good standing. In order to be counted, ballots must be received at the designated location no later than Monday May 20, 10:00am.

CWA Local 1103 Secretary-Treasurer Doug Sheahan has tendered his written resignation which will become effective at the close of business Friday, March 29, 2013.
Effective March 30, 2013 there will be a vacancy in the office of CWA Local 1103 Secretary-Treasurer.
At the General Membership Meeting last week, Doug Sheahan announced that he will resign from his position as CWA Local 1103 Secretary-Treasurer, effective March 29, 2013.
It is with deepest gratitude that the members of Local 1103 offered their congratulations on his retirement from the phone company and CWA Local 1103. Throughout his forty three (43) plus years with the company, he was a strong Union man who always did the right thing, and was a great example of what every member should strive toward being.
We all wish Doug our warmest personal regards and best wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement.
We are sad to report another fatality due to electrocution. On Saturday, March 23, 2013 a Verizon tech (IBEW member) in Rhode Island contacted a power line while in a bucket. The link for the news article is below. We do not have any other details right now, but will keep you informed when we get more information.

We have some extremely good news to share with you all. Thanks to massive support from our allies who attended rallies, emailed Cablevision, made phone calls, and posted on social media, we are pleased to report that as of yesterday afternoon Cablevision has re-hired all but one of the illegally locked out technicians in Brooklyn. Its not over yet though --major efforts to demand a fair contract are underway.
Earlier today the Union received the heartbreaking decision of the arbitrator regarding the 2009 Layoff Arbitration. It did not go our way. The arbitrator has denied our grievance. As more information becomes available, we will pass it on.
