The Local 1103 Joint Equity and Women's Committee hit a milestone yesterday. The 50th local business agreed to put up a “Good Workplace” decal in their storefront Thursday to show they follow all wage and hours law as part of our campaign to make the village of Port Chester, NY a no tolerance zone for wage theft.
A Year in Review
This last year, an 1103 Member, a working man in our healthcare unit was fired from his job. His employer accused him of misrepresenting his time reporting, so he missed work without pay. But thanks to the representational skills and know-how of 1103's executive board and steward body, this Member got his job back.

It seems every year around this time we are touched by some tragedy that shocks the senses. A few years ago, it was the school shooting in Sandy Hook or the fire accidentally caused when hot coals were put too close to a home wiping out a whole family. And now, we have the senseless, tragic, and brutal execution of two NYPD police officers.
