Regional Bargaining Report # 29
Wednesday, August 12, 2015
CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 and IBEW New England Regional Committees spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the Rye Town Hilton in Westchester.
However, no formal bargaining took place with Verizon. Several hours of off-the-record conversations were conducted.
CWA Members need good jobs and our customers need FiOS and reliable copper service. Good customer service quality help ensure good jobs. Yet Vz is cutting off millions of potential FiOS customers, leaving them at the mercy of a cable company monopoly.
CWA Members turned out in force to a packed house at the Poughkeepsie PSC Hearing. The offices of Assemblymen David Buchwald, Yonkers Mayor Spano, and Catharine Borgia Majority Leader of the Westchester County Legislators entered in statements of support for CWA jobs. Retirees and CWA officers gave testimony on how build out of FiOs and increased regulation on copper lines would support and save CWA telecom jobs - Good Middle-Class Jobs.
We apologize that our local tape is down again. Please check your email, the 1103 website and Facebook page for up to date information. UPDATE:
The union's bargaining team will be pulling out of the Rye Town Hilton this morning and will continue to meet with the company at a time and location that is mutually agreeable.
On June 22, 2015 the first day of bargaining for the Verizon contract CWA Local 1103 hosted the 1st Day of Bargaining Rally in Port Chester with a March that began from Horgan Hall to the Rye Town Hilton. Saturday Aug 1st CWA Local 1103 will once again be the host for our Verizon Contract STRIKE WATCH at Horgan Hall 6pm-Midnight.
