National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week - April 13-19, 2025
CWA’s Local 1103 Executive Board recognizes and thanks our FIRST of the first responders and unseen heroes of public safety during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. We know the job you do is important but stressful.
We really just wanted to say thank you.
As you know, our current collective bargaining agreement with Verizon does not expire until August 1, 2026.
However, Verizon, CWA and IBEW are jointly announcing today that we will be entering into bargaining beginning May 21, 2025 to determine whether it is possible to agree on the terms of a contract extension.
We will keep you posted on further developments.
Over 1000 Patriotic Americans gathered in Mr. Kisco, NY on Saturday to protest and say #handsoff. CWA 1103 stood with our allies and spoke to Trump signing an executive order stripping collective bargaining and union rights from over one million workers across the federal government, and how we should all be deeply outraged. It’s Union Busting and it’s disgusting.
What is all this recent noise about the BEAD program?
At last week’s General membership meeting, CWA Local 1103 President, Kevin Sheil, spoke about the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment program. BEAD was created as part of the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law in 2021 by President Biden.
Stop the Cuts. Working-class families, like ours, often depend on social services. The GOP is proposing cuts to these programs that assist us, in order to pay for a tax cut for them and their very wealthy friends. Social services are not only utilized by those who are too lazy to work. That is a fallacy.
The weather forecast today and for the remaining week is that it will be dangerously cold with extreme winds, increasing your risk for frostbite or worse.
