On Labor Day, we recognize and honor the achievements of America’s working people. In 2017, this annual celebration comes at a critical time for our state. Collective action is on the rise—yet so are the attacks on our pay, health care, retirement security, and rights on the job. The biggest threat we currently face is the Constitutional Convention.

Join Us at the Labor Picnic at Ridge Road Park in Hartsdale.  The Westchester Putnam Centeral Labor Body will hold its Annual Labor Picnic on Sunday August 2017, from 11am to 4pm.

Today we pay our respects to Gerry Horgan, killed on the picket line in 1989 fighting corporate greed.  The ceremony will take place in Valhalla NY the site in which Gerry was struck down by a scab crossing the picket line.  We are CWA STRONG because we remember.

In his keynote address to the 76th CWA convention in Pittsburgh, CWA President Chris Shelton laid out the intensifying attacks facing workers and the labor movement, but reminded delegates that "always, always, always, working people have risen up to fight for what is right.

Verizon Members:  The 2017 Summer Camp reimbursement includes summer day programs as well as overnight camp programs and is made available through the Local and NY/NE Regional Work & Family CommiLees.  The fund will reimburse up to $600.00 per child for summer camp expenses incurred between July 1, 2017 through September 1, 2017 for up to two (2) children per family.

If you didn't attend the meeting last week, you missed a lot. You missed the public support building for the Nyack Bargaining Unit as contract expiration is nearing. You missed the presentation of CWA 1103's mobilization plan.  And you missed the announcement of the initial bargaining date of May 17th.  It's our time to receive a fair contract.
