Memorial Day: A Day of Remembrance War enacts a terrible price. Yet, for some it’s a distance abstract concept happening a world away.  For too many it is much closer to home.  War affects mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, children yet born and the possibilities of futures that can no longer occur.

As you know, our current collective bargaining agreement with Verizon does not expire until August, 2019, a little less than 15 months from now. However, Verizon, CWA and IBEW are jointly announcing today that we will be entering into two weeks of bargaining beginning June 18, 2018 to determine whether it is possible to agree on the terms of a contract extension.

Veterans Day and Memorial Day - One A Day of Thanks another of Remembrance The number of persons that have served in the U.S. Military compared to the population of our country is relatively small.  Currently there are 1,281,900 people in active service and 801,200 in the reserves (there are 244 million adult women and Men).   Of those numbers there are 21.

Earlier this year, after it was reported that Verizon agreed to sell its data-centers business to Equinix for $3.6 billion dollars, I spoke at multiple general membership meetings about how this was important because the deal impacted our 1103 members in Verizon Business.

Sept 29, 2017. To All CWA 1103 Members The nomination process for elected offices in CWA Local 1103 closed at 12pm today.  There is only one nominee for each of the elected offices and delegates to the CWA National Union Convention postitions certified by the election committee.
