CWA congratulates our endorsed candidates; all ran tough races and excellent ground campaigns.   We thank our LPAT Work Place Members who attended strategy meetings on their own time, got information out to the members, energize the members in their workplaces to vote and worked side by side with your Executive Board in our political program.  We accomplished a great deal although we did not win every race and one is still close to call.

In NY we picked up a House of Representative seat by defeating Nan Hayworth and electing Sean Patrick Maloney.  This was huge since Hayworth has voted against CWA every step of the way; from refusing to support the call center bill to voting against the Repeal of the Reverse Morris Trust.  While other gains were made across the country in the House (1 more in upstate NY but also losing one breaking even), we did not gain enough seats to win back that majority.   All other CWA 1103 endorsed congress members were re-elected. 

In the NYS Senate it looks like we picked up 3 Democratic seats, which means we are in control the senate (awaiting final counts of paper ballots).  We are awaiting the final counts from Westchester for the 40th Senate seat, currently our candidate Justin Wagner is 4000 votes behind with 15% of the votes still out, while this is an outside chance it would put us up by 3 seats. 

In the NY Assembly we did very well in 1103’s jurisdiction, all endorsed incumbents were re-elected and we picked up 93rd seat by defeating Castelli and electing David Buchwald.
