Active Members and Retirees of Verizon are leaving thousands of dollars on the table in unused HRA accounts.  

In accordance with the 2016 collective bargaining agreement the Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) will expire on December 31, 2018 and any unused HRA balance as of December 31, 2018 will be forfeited. You have until March 31, 2019 to submit claims incurred through December 31, 2018. Funds not claimed by this date will be forfeited. HRA Claims with a date of service after December 31, 2018 will be denied.  

Your HRA can be used to pay for eligible health care expenses that are not covered, or are only partially covered, by medical, prescription, dental or vision insurance plans. Some examples of eligible health care expenses include:

• Copays

• Amounts paid towards deductible or coinsurance

• Prescription drugs

• Vision expenses (for example, eye exam, eye glasses and contact lenses)

• Dental and orthodontia expenses

• Medical supplies and equipment (for example, bandages, crutches and diabetics
